Little Shell Service Unit provides compassionate, comprehensive healthcare rooted in cultural respect and clinical excellence — serving the Little Shell Tribe of Montana and the greater Great Falls community since 1977.
"Health is continuity — of body, spirit, and tradition."
Serving the Little Shell Tribe with dignity, respect, and cultural humility since 1977.
Little Shell Service Unit is a federally recognized Indian Health Service facility located in Great Falls, Montana. We serve members of the Little Shell Tribe of Montana — a people whose history stretches back thousands of years across the northern plains.
Our clinic was established in 1977 under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, reflecting a commitment to tribal self-governance in healthcare delivery. Today, we provide a full spectrum of primary and preventive health services to our enrolled members and qualifying individuals across Cascade County and surrounding regions.
We believe that healing is most effective when it honors the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and community. Our team brings together licensed clinicians, behavioral health specialists, pharmacy professionals, and community health representatives who share a deep respect for the traditions and resilience of the Little Shell people.
From preventive screenings to chronic disease management, our multidisciplinary team delivers the full range of services our community needs — all under one roof.
Comprehensive adult and pediatric primary care including routine exams, chronic disease management, immunizations, and health education.
Individual and group counseling, substance use disorder treatment, crisis intervention, and culturally integrated mental health services.
Full-service pharmacy with prescription dispensing, medication therapy management, and coordination with primary care providers.
Preventive and restorative dental services for all ages, including cleanings, fillings, extractions, and oral health education.
Gynecological care, prenatal services, family planning, cancer screenings, and maternal health programs tailored to our community.
Health promotion, disease prevention programs, nutrition counseling, and community outreach initiatives rooted in cultural practice.
The Indian Health Service exists to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest possible level. At Little Shell, we live that mission every day.
Healthcare should never be out of reach. We work to ensure every eligible member can access timely, respectful care close to home.
Our practice is informed by the traditions, values, and healing wisdom of the Little Shell Tribe. Care is most effective when it honors who you are.
We hold ourselves to the highest clinical standards — combining evidence-based medicine with genuine compassion in every encounter.
The Little Shell Tribe of Montana traces its lineage to the mixed-blood bands of the historic Little Shell Chippewa — descendants of Ojibwe and Métis families who have called the northern plains home for generations.
Our service unit serves as a health partner to this community, offering programs that address both the immediate needs and the long-term well-being of our members. We believe health extends beyond the clinic walls — into families, into traditions, and into the land itself.
